I was planning to make a hanging tent for my little girl and her playmates to play store. I drew out the specs and everything, and settled on using a hula hoop for the upper frame.
In my daily check-in on FB, I was extremely fortuitous to catch the most recent blog entry of craftzine.com featuring a how-to on making an Army Bunker tent. A click on the link brought me to a very comprehensive set of tutorials on making tents for little kids I've ever seen! How lucky is that?
Obsessively Stitching, has proclaimed February 15-19 as "Tent Week" and with the help of her talented family members, has compiled comprehensive step-by-step instructions on making: (1) a tee-pee; (2) an army bunker tent; (3) a card table tent; and (4) [my absolute favorite] a Hula Hoop Dome Tent. A family of ingenious crafters! I love it! There's still one more day left, so I'm excited to see what she posts next.
Here's a snapshot of her site: (with my favorite project):
